About us

Scent Hound Cellars is a family owned company based in Oslo, the capital of Norway.

We only import wines from handpicked producers that are just as passionate about quality as we are. You can expect our wines to be truly exceptional.

Our wines are marketed in Norway to both private persons and restaurants, bars and the like. Our wines are available at Vinmonopolet and select restaurants.

Why can't we buy this in Norway?

That was the question that we kept asking ourselves.

Whether on a tour in some wine region or just shopping for wines somewhere outside Norway we would come across killer wines that we just could not get back home.

And so, one fine day, we decided to do something about it.

We started Scent Hound Cellars to introduce new wines to Norway that we think should be available here. The focus is wines from internationally respected producers that somehow has gone under the radar in Norway. Highly acclaimed wines of outstanding quality that does not cost an arm and a leg.

We love wine and we love food

In that order. Or was it the other way around? Anyway, great wines can be so much more interesting when paired with food.

At Scent Hound Cellars we all hunt. As hunters we have a particular soft spot for wines that match the wild game that we bring back from the forrest. But hey, what's not to love about a juicy wild boar stake and a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino?

Living on the Norwegian coast we also catch the occasional fish or two. How about cod, as fresh as they come, and cooked to perfection. Luckily, there is wine for that too.

Fia

The inspiration for our company name and logo came from our hunting dog, the Alpine Dachsbracke, Fia.

She was 11 months old and needed a new home when we saw a picture of her for the first time. It took just about another month before all arrangements where in place, but two days before Christmas Eve 2012 she finally became a member of our family.

Having spent all of her short life in a small outdoors kennel with little human contact, her new life was challenging and full of scary things at first. Today she is fully adapted to her new lifestyle and she is no longer afraid of her own shadow.

Fia has the best nose in the family and she can follow a two day old scent trail - but we are not so convinced about her palate.
